1. My husband and me love our holidays and like to go away about three times per year (sometimes for a week, others for a fortnight. We have three cats, two Siamese and rescue cat who is disabled.

One thing that blighted our holidays was placing the cats in a cattery. This became increasingly upsetting as both Siamese are very timid, indeed the eldest now requires zantac medication twice daily for a stomach ulcer caused by anxiety. The cattery we used was run by a lovely lady who loved cats. But, at the end of the day, they were still confined to a cage away from home and their feline comforts.

For the last three years we have used Jen to cat sit for us and we couldn’t be more delighted with her service. Prior to the first occasion that we went away, she visited our home to meet the cats and set up a pet plan to cater to their individual needs. For instance, should one of them be off their food, she knows what little luxury treat each one likes to tempt them into eating. It is clear when she calls round that the cats are totally at ease with her, and she knows all their little idiosyncrasies too (a clear indication that she has taken the time to really get to know them).

Jen does not just leave their food and ‘hope for the best’. She takes the time to make sure they are eating (even coaxing them from under the bed if they fail to appear!). She also cleans their litter trays. changes their water, waters our plants and leaves bread and milk for when we get back. She is more than happy to administer the medication to my older cat and, although she is only asked to make two trips per day, often pops in at lunch-time to check the older cat is OK!

On our last trip, Jen really did go way beyond the ‘call of duty’. My elderly mother was staying at our house as my father was in hospital and our house was closer for her to visit. As, at the time, dad was due to be discharged in a few days so, after much soul searching, we decided to go on our holiday but asked Jen to still call twice daily to care for the cats (mum has a little dog so looking after the dog and visiting dad was enough for her to handle). After a stressful week of agonizing about going away we arrived at Gatwick on the Friday night for a stopover prior to our flight on Saturday. At about nine PM Jen phoned to let us know that when had she called round for the evening feed, she had detected an electrical fault with a dimmer switch in the kitchen and had smelled burning! Obviously we were horrified and I was all for coming home but Jen wouldn’t hear of it and sorted the entire situation.

She isolated the electric downstairs and organised auxiliary lighting for when mum got back from her evening hospital visit. Jen then proceeded to find our insurance documents and phoned the company who were about as much use as a chocolate frying pan (LV).

Not to beaten, Jen called out an emergency electrician who changed the dimmer switches and made everywhere safe. She stayed with mum until this was done and even walked her little dog for her as it was freezing cold. Jen also helped to pay the electrician’s fee and stayed with mum until she was sure all was ok (about 10pm at this point!). I cannot thank Jen enough for her swift, professional and kind actions. We would certainly not have been able to fly on the Saturday without her fantastic help. When we got back, Mum told us she would not have known what on earth to do if she had been on her own and could not sing Jen’s praises enough.

Needless to say, we would recommend this lovely lady unreservedly. We feel so happy that we have discovered such a reliable and conscientious professional to care for our beloved cats and entrust to keep them safe.

  6. Hi Jen

I just wanted to put on record how happy Ian and I are with Ruscoe's care since you took over looking after him in June. He is like a different animal he doesn't pull as much now and he is so excited when you arrive. It is reassuring to know he is happy and in safe hands. It was so nice to visit your home and see him rushing in in fact he couldn't wait to get in which tells me you are doing something right.

Look forward to our continued relationship with you and I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone.
